Care for wood arbors depends on the type of
wood. Treated lumber or a decay-resistant type wood (red cedar or
cypress for example) will need less maintenance and will sustain various
weathers and temperatures better than non-treated wood. Cedar is
strongly resistant to rot, insects, and termites. Most people opt
to stain their wood garden arbor to give them the wood color they
want. You can also choose to paint them or leave them to keep their wood finish
look. If left untouched, red cedar will age to a beautiful silver
gray color. Wood arbors are often used to define the entrance to
your house rather than using a fence or a simple gate. Most of our featured garden arbors are pictured as
basic arbors, but the majority offer the option to purchase more
features for the style you prefer, such as wings, gate, bench or swing. All
cedar arbors are finished with a warm rich preservative that
protects the arbor while enhancing the natural grain of the cedar.
